Importing recipes
Which pages can Kochzettel take recipes from?
Recipe pages on the web. The page has to include its recipe in a structured form, and not every page does. Kochzettel then takes the ingredients with amounts, the steps, servings, times and the photo.
Kochzettel found no recipe on a page. What now?
If the page loads but has no recipe, Kochzettel opens a new recipe with the page's link. The title and photo are filled in too, if the page gives them. If the page won't load, tap Enter by Hand. Only the link is filled in then. Add the ingredients and steps, or copy them from the page. For a recipe with no link, tap the pencil button, Add Recipe, at the top of your book.
How do I share a recipe from Safari?
Tap Share in Safari. Choose Kochzettel, and it shows Saved. Tap Done. The next time you open Kochzettel, it brings the recipe into your book.
Does it work with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook?
No. Kochzettel only imports recipes from websites, and it doesn't read photos or PDFs. A recipe from a video or a cookbook, you type in yourself.
Does Kochzettel convert cups and ounces?
No. It is built for German recipe sites and metric amounts. English pages import too, but cups and ounces aren't converted to grams or millilitres.
What if an amount came through wrong?
Correct it. Kochzettel takes what the page gives it, and you can edit any recipe afterwards.
iCloud and your data
How do my recipes get to another device?
Through iCloud. If you're signed in, recipes, meal plans and shopping lists live in your private iCloud. That is how they reach your devices on the same Apple Account.
Does Kochzettel work without iCloud?
Yes. Everything works the same, on this one iPhone. The book then shows "Not signed in to iCloud. Recipes stay on this iPhone only." In Settings, behind the gear button in the book, iCloud sync reads "This iPhone only". Importing, cook mode, the shopping list and buying Plus all work the same.
Can you read my recipes?
No. Kochzettel has no account and no server of its own. Your recipes live on your iPhone and in your iCloud, not with us.
I deleted a recipe. Is it gone?
No. It waits in the Trash for 30 days, and you can restore it from there.
Does Kochzettel collect data about me?
No. There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics in the app. Apple passes crash reports and performance data to us only if you've turned on sharing with app developers on your iPhone. They aren't linked to you.
Kochzettel Plus and the subscription
What is free?
Nearly everything. As many recipes as you like, importing, search, cook mode, a shopping list from any recipe and iCloud sync. No account, no ads, no time limit.
What does Kochzettel Plus add?
The meal planner. Seven days, each with breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. With it, the whole week's shopping list in one tap, and last week's plan copied over. Everything else stays free.
How much is Kochzettel Plus?
€4.99 a month or €24.99 a year. It is a subscription through Apple, and payment is taken from your Apple Account when you buy. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
How do I get Plus?
Tap the Week tab. The first time, the offer opens with both plans. Pick one and tap Subscribe to Kochzettel Plus. Continue without Plus closes the offer. The app stays as it was.
How do I restore my purchase?
Sign in with the Apple Account you bought it with and open Week. Once Kochzettel has read the purchase from Apple, the meal planner opens again. If you still see the locked card, tap Restore purchases on it.
How do I cancel?
Through Apple. Open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Choose Kochzettel Plus and tap Cancel Subscription. Your recipes and your shopping list stay as they are.
If an import doesn't work
If Kochzettel says the page couldn't be loaded or took too long to answer, check your internet connection and try again. If it finds no recipe on the page, type it in yourself. Send us the page's link and we'll look at what Kochzettel reads there.
Write to us
Write to support@larchline.co in English or German. You'll get an answer within 24 hours. If the app needs a change for it, we'll tell you.
Three things make the answer quick:
The link of the recipe page, if it's about an import.
Your iPhone model and iOS version.
What you expected and what Kochzettel showed instead. A screenshot is enough.
Data and privacy
Kochzettel keeps your recipes, plans and lists on your iPhone and in your iCloud, not with us. If you write to us, we keep your message and the address you wrote from so we can answer. The privacy policy has the details.
